What is a good unbaised book documenting and its WW2 causes?
Thursday, August 20th, 2009I am looking for a book to read on WW2 that is generally unbiased, with information concerning all sides and not from the perspective of the “winners”. Any suggestions would be most helpful!
artillery luger?
Saturday, August 15th, 2009my grandfather also had a long barreled luger pistol with an extended stick magazine and a drum for it. on a tag is hand written artillery? he had like 40 weapons i got after his death. some i recognize and some i do not. also a lot of curios, daggers with swastikas, german helmets, miltary items of differant kinds. and some flags with swastikas. he was in WW2 so i think maybe they are war trophies or something. I brought an SKS home from desert storm as a war trophy, and of course lots of paperwork with it. My mom said she remembers he got guns from his dad also so maybe that is why there is so many old weapons? i don’t want to sell any of these but keep them to give to my own kids.
yes i think i’m lucky but not at the cost of losing the greatest man i ever knew. i did not know my dad. he was killed in vietnam when i was about a year old. I will contact all the people i can to help make sure that no one comes to visit me. I have a few items also i do not want to mention because i do know they are worth an extreme amount of money. like i said i do not want to sell any of these but pass them down as well. about the tax stamps for the broomhandle i also got from him i got some info from the BATF website and requested the forms i need to keep them. thanks
M1942 / M42 German Helmet
Friday, August 14th, 2009As the war marched on, it resulted in the need for a change to the German helmets to reduce the manufacturing time. The rolled edge was eliminated and they reduced the amount of metal used in each helmet. They also did away with adding decals since they were pressed to get the helmets out the door.
M1940 / M40 German Helmet
Friday, August 14th, 2009The M40 was pretty much the same as the M35 except this version has the ventilation holes stamped into the shell instead of utilizing separate fittings. This was the only change and all the other feature of the M40 remained the same as the M35.
M1935 / M35 German Helmet
Friday, August 14th, 2009The M35 was a major improvement over previous models of the German helmets. These helmets were made from pressed sheets of molybdenum steel which make them very durable and the bottom flare that caused hearing problems with previous models was reduced this improving the helmets sound features.
M1916 / M16 German Helmet
Friday, August 14th, 2009The M16 was brought into service in early 1916 as an answer for the horrible head wounds soldiers were receiving in battle.
Assorted German Helmets
Thursday, August 13th, 2009When looking to collect German helmets, if the decals on them are intact, it will greatly increase the helmets value. After the helmet shells were painted, the decals were affixed on either one or both sides of the helmet dependent on what branch of the service it was for.
