When looking to collect German helmets, if the decals on them are intact, it will greatly increase the helmets value. After the helmet shells were painted, the decals were affixed on either one or both sides of the helmet dependent on what branch of the service it was for.

Some of the more prized helmets bear the mark of the Wehermact, Kriegsmaring, Luftwaffe and even more prized are the infamous Waffen SS. By the end of the war, many of the decals were abandoned so that they would not easily identify what branch of the service the allied forces were fighting. That’s one the reason finding helmets with intact decals that have not been retouched is a rare find.

The best way to find a good quality German helmet is in an online auction setting. This allows you to see a wide selection of helmets and bid only what you can afford to pay.
